We found out we were having a kid, so I started plans for a rocking bassinet and a nursery. The bassinet finished up a while ago, but the nursery still needed some attention before it was ready for the little one. Today is the due date and I can say the nursery is officially move-in ready!
Even if you don't have children, you can imagine how expensive they are. So when I was designing the nursery, I wanted to make sure we could exit whatever store we were in, or click 'purchase' on whatever website we were on, and not feel like we got punched in the stomach. So follow along with the design, see where we saved money, see where we splurged, and know that any room can look great even on a budget! Hope you enjoy!
Design
When coming up with the design, we both decided that we didn't want the traditional pastel blue 'boy' color everywhere. We wanted a modern and outdoorsy feel that our son could grow into over the years, not grow out of as soon as he could talk. I have the room divided into two areas; the first is the crib/rocking chair corner for sleepy-time prep (reading and rocking), and the second is for dressing and diaper changing. Everything else is just play area I suppose.
Final Product - "Sleepy Corner"
The 'sleepy-time' corner is nice and cozy. The rocker is extra wide (mom likes to curl up into a little ball) with plenty of pillows and blankets close by for cuddling. When he finally fades off to sleep, it's a smooth transition to the crib.

Final Product - "Business" Side
The business side of the room doesn't have to be any less fun! A large dresser allows for plenty of storage for diapers, clothes, diapers, some toys, diapers, and diapers. I moved the bassinet in here for display purposes, but it will primarily be in our bedroom. More greenery, a custom made changing table frame, and the 'mounted' stuffed animal heads keep the outdoorsy look playful (they're smiling!) and not too serious.

Oh, and I moved my old record player up there. He's going to need some music to listen to while getting ready for the day, might as well start him on the essentials (both German and American) nice and early!
